Danie Garrie, Esq., is the Co-Founder of Law & Forensics LLC, where he heads the Computer Forensics and digital discovery Cybersecurity teams. Daniel has been a dominant voice in the computer forensics and cybersecurity space for the past 20 years, as an attorney and technologist. He is an adjunct professor at Harvard for Computer Forensics, and prior to Law & Forensics, he successfully built and sold several technology start-up companies. Since co-founding Law & Forensics LLC in 2008, Daniel has built it into one of the leading boutique firms specializing in cybersecurity and forensic engineering. He is a mediator, arbitrator, and e-discovery special master for JAMS and is a partner and head of Cybersecurity practice at Zeichner, Ellman & Krause LLP. Daniel earned both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in computer science from Brandeis University, as well as a J.D. from Rutgers Law School. Daniel has led cyber and forensic teams in some of the most visible and sensitive incidents in the United States. He and his team have worked globally for two of the top five banks and dozens of the largest private and public companies in the world. In addition, Daniel has been awarded several patents for advanced cybersecurity and forensic platforms he built with his team, including TableTop.AI, CustodyTrack.IO, and Forensic Scan. Daniel is also well-published in the cybersecurity space and has authored more than 200 articles and books. His work is cited by Black’s Law Dictionary 10th Ed. defining the terms 'software', 'internet', and 'algorithm'. Lastly, he has been recognized by several United States Supreme Court Justices for his legal scholarship and is a trusted source and thought leader for cybersecurity articles and opinions, cited over 500 times to date.

I am a partner in Mayer Brown's New York office and a member of the Cybersecurity & Data Privacy, Financial Services & Regulatory Enforcement, Artificial Intelligence, and Global Investigations & White Collar Defense practices. Prior to joining Mayer Brown I was Executive Deputy Superintendent of the Cybersecurity Division at the New York State Department of Financial Services, where I served as the first leader of the agency’s Cybersecurity Division, itself a first-of-its-kind unit at a financial services regulator. Under my leadership, NYDFS’ Cybersecurity Division became a go-to source for guidance on novel and emerging cyber challenges. I also worked extensively on crypto and other innovation issues at NYDFS, including artificial intelligence.

George Pierce is Special Counsel to ZEK’s Litigation and Cyber Security Practices. He has substantial experience and expertise in providing legal services related to complex litigation, corporate governance, labor and employment, bankruptcy, international trade, regulatory compliance and cyber security matters. Mr. Pierce retired from Toyota Tsusho America, Inc. in December 2022 where he was employed for 29 years and served as a Director, Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, and Corporate Secretary. He established the company’s Legal Department as its first General Counsel, and continuously served on Toyota Tsusho America’s board of directors for 22 years when he became the company’s first Director Emeritus and Special Legal Counsel. He also served on the boards of directors of several subsidiary companies. Before joining Toyota Tsusho America, Mr. Pierce was associated with Mudge Rose Guthrie Alexander and Ferdon for 12 years where he had extensive experience representing Japanese corporations, Japanese owned subsidiary corporations and domestically owned corporations regarding various complex litigation, international trade, regulatory compliance, environmental insurance coverage, white collar defense, labor and employment, and internal investigations. Prior to Mudge Rose, Mr. Pierce was an intern at Miyake and Kitamura in Tokyo, Japan, which together with Mudge Rose, was counsel to a Japanese corporation that was a defendant in a large complex multinational litigation matter filed in New York State Court. Mr. Pierce’s experience with Japanese corporations and Japanese owned subsidiary corporations has largely focused on avoiding and resolving legal issues in the United States by bridging the understanding and expectations gap arising from significant differences between the law and legal systems in Japan and in the United States; For example, as to civil and criminal procedure and the evidence preservation and discovery process in the United States, shareholder liability, jurisdiction over Japanese parent companies in the United States, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, labor and employment, cyber and privacy, and development of policies and procedures that mitigate risk of liability. Focusing on Japanese parent and subsidiary corporations in the United States, Mr. Pierce has spoken on labor and employment issues at meetings of the American Bar Association, the International Section of the New York State Bar Association, the International Bar Association and the Asian American Bar Association, as well as the Practicing Law Institute, the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan, the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of New York, and the Japan Society. He has also spoken at various webinars and CLE programs sponsored by Thomson Reuters, West LegalEd Center regarding cyber security matters, and at the Journal of Law and Cyber Warfare annual symposium. He has also co-taught sessions of the Illinois Institute of Technology's Chicago-Kent College of Law Cyber Security Certificate Program. Mr. Pierce holds a master’s degree in Sociology and a bachelor’s degree with majors in Psychology and in Japanese Language and Literature. Mr. Pierce is an accomplished musician, singer and songwriter who also holds a second-degree black belt in Kodokan Judo, an advanced class amateur radio license and has served in the United States Air Force.

Royal is a former registered nurse-turned-attorney, with over 30 years of experience in health and lawrelated fields. She was an RN when HIPAA went into effect, and as an attorney, naturally gravitated to health regulatory law. She then moved into global privacy law, being the first to submit a dual application for both controller and processor binding corporate rules to comply with European privacy laws. She is certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals as a Certified Internal Privacy Professional in both the U.S. and Europe, a Certified Information Privacy Manager, and a Fellow of Information Privacy – one of the first to reach such a qualification. Professionally, she serves on the board of several non-profit organizations, teaches privacy law at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, and co-hosts the popular “Serious Privacy” podcast. In addition, she frequently writes, speaks, and has consulted on data protection, privacy and cybersecurity for companies around the world.
