About this course
LSBCLSO
As criminal defence lawyers we represent our clients through bail, a preliminary hearing, trial and sentencing, but have you ever tried representing a client after they have been sentenced, in a Temporary Absence or a Parole Hearing? Prison law is very different from criminal law and there are certain nuances that one needs to be familiar with in order to navigate the system. That's where our lunch and learn, Parole, Temporary Release and Covid-19 comes in.
Learn from an experienced prison law lawyer about how to prepare Temporary Release and Parole packages, both for Federal and Provincial institutions. This program will focus on: required criteria, availability of programs in correctional facilities and what steps you can take if your client needs to take rehabilitative courses to be eligible for release, but no courses are available.
how Covid-19 has impacted the Temporary Release and Parole system and what steps you can take to maximize your client's chances.
