WHMIS with GHS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System – aligned with GHS) online course was developed in accordance with the federally legislated Hazardous Products Act (HPA) and its associated Hazardous Products Regulations (HPR). WHMIS was aligned with the United Nations’ Globally Harmonized System of Classification & Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) in February 2015, and therefore adopts a standardized and consistent hazard communication system that is recognized internationally. WHMIS is the law in Canada and protects workers from hazards of chemicals used in the workplace. It is your responsibility as a worker to complete WHMIS general education as well as specific on-site training, if you work with, or may be exposed to hazardous materials. This online eLearning course provides WHMIS general education regarding WHMIS principles and how to read and use the information found on labels and safety data sheets. This online course is intended to be supplemented with specific on-site training regarding specific hazardous products used, handled or stored in your workplace.
